The Great Kombucha Review — #3 Press x Equinox
"Kombucha (also tea mushroom, Manchurian mushroom, formal name: Medusomyces gisevii) is a variety of fermented, lightly effervescent sweetened black or green tea drinks that are commonly intended as functional beverages for their supposed health benefits."
Equinox was the very first Kombucha I ever tried, in an awesome little veggie kitchen near me — Freedom Organics. It's brewed in a little place called Hebden Bridge (another spot near my home!) so has a real local appeal to me.
Of the kombucha brands out there, this one is packaged in a little more standard fashion — but this helps to just take it back to basics and really let you focus on the flavour. I have tasted the fruit flavoured varieties and they're delicious, but wanted to review an original blend to show where the drink initially comes from.
Equinox produce one of the less strong flavoured kombuchas. The slight vinegar/malty taste is still there but only a hint. It's super easy to drink — so it's great if you're new to Kombucha. I really recommend this brand for anyone trying it for the first time, then as your palette gets used to the flavours you can branch out and experiment.
So that concludes the Great Kombucha Review of 2017! If you can recommend any other brands or flavours then I would love to give them a go, I'll pop my thoughts on the blog and Instagram!
Let me know if you give Kombucha a go, and whether you're now an addict or not that entertained…
