The Great Kombucha Review — #2 Jarr Kombucha
"Kombucha (also tea mushroom, Manchurian mushroom, formal name: Medusomyces gisevii) is a variety of fermented, lightly effervescent sweetened black or green tea drinks that are commonly intended as functional beverages for their supposed health benefits."
And this week we have the amazing Jarr Kombucha.
Purchased from Good and Proper Tea, I've been following these guys for a while on social media and dying to get my hands on a bottle. To be honest, I didn't really care what it tasted like as the bottle looked so awesome. Their branding is spot on, and a little different for what you usually see in the Kombucha market which really makes it stand out. That little splash of colour on the top just brightens the whole thing up and really finishes it off.
So on to the taste. In comparison to other brands I've tried, Jarr tasted a little more malty. This was quite a nice touch, as it took away some of the vinegar taste and made it seem a little more like beer. It had a real typical 'brewed' taste to it. I need to get my hands on the flavoured varieties, as I can imagine they are awesome.
The guys at Jarr are really worth a follow on Instagram — their journey is great to keep an eye on. Posting about kombucha from around the world, as well as some funny little snippets from their brewery.
Definitely a recommended product if you like your booch to taste real and maybe even a good replacement for a bottle of beer.
