Flowering Tea — The Tea House, London
One of the purchases I treated myself to from The Tea House (see my post here) was their Mango Lily Flowering Tea. I'd never tried one before, but have seen beautiful pictures of these balls of tea leaves opening up to reveal colourful flowers inside.
This is one tea I bought without caring for the taste — I just asked which one would look prettiest when it opened. But please note — it tasted awesome too!
The little ball of leaves with a string tied around looked really intriguing, especially as I knew there'd be something inside. It smelt great, like dried tea with a fruity smell hiding behind it.
I poured in the hot water and the little parcel began to slowly open. It's great to use a glass cup or teapot for this so that you can appreciate it from all angles. It takes a while for it to fully open up, but watching it is quite fun!
This particular one opened to reveal a string of yellow flowers floating up from a pretty red flower in the middle.
The taste however blew me away a little. I've had fruit green teas before but nothing that tasted this fresh — the mango was really strong and made it almost like a warm juice! I reused the tea a few times and it still tasted great, definitely one I'd recommend for anyone who likes their teas light and fruity.
